Zune Magnets

Add different kinds of colorful bouncing balls.  Use a few to watch their subtle interactions, or a bunch for chaotic fun.

  • Tap the screen to add bouncing balls.
  • Touch the left button to change the ball type. There are five balls that do various things.
  • Touch the middle button to display a vector field, showing the various influences currently on the balls.
  • Touch the right button to switch add/remove modes. In – mode, touching a ball will remove it. Touches off a ball still add a new one. In + mode, you can lock a ball in place by tapping it, or drag it around with your finger.
  • You can get some interesting effects by locking magnets in place. Try to make a ball hover against gravity!
  • Tilt the Zune to make the balls slide towards the ground.
  • Shake the Zune to give the balls a kick in the pants.
  • If too many balls start to slow down the app, random ones are automatically removed.

    • Updated 12/29:  change the name as appears on the Zune to not start with “Zune”

    Updated 1/2:  Added ability to lock and drag the balls.  Added shake support.  Various code fixes.  There is one crashing bug that I have observed, but I haven’t found the cause yet.  It seems rare.

      Love it except that when the Zune starts bogging down, it doesn’t remove magnets. Had about 5000 yellow bouncing around.

      Thanks, gamersat. I have just uploaded a new version that has several changes, including improved removal logic. Yellow balls are indeed a problem since their growth is geometric, so they can have babies faster than I can remove them! Please let me know if it continues to be an issue.
