Draw HD

Note:  a newer version is available at http://games.zhdapps.com/2010/games/draw-hd-2-0/.  Check it out, it’s better!

This game is aimed at kids 2 and up, and is a simple drawing program.

  • Use one or more fingers to draw rainbow colors on the screen.
  • Press the buttons at the bottom to change brushes; the one of the right is an eraser.
  • Shake the Zune to clear the screen.
  • Touch the “fade” text at the top to control fading. It can be On, Off, or Fast.
  • Touch the “pressure” text at the top to control pressure. When pressure is on, pushing harder on the screen results in a larger brush.
  • Drag the “Drawing Fun!” title around, and it will start falling toward the ground. Put it back in its box to stop.

Updated 12/29:  change the name as appears on the Zune to not start with “Zune”

The download button points to the new version, “Draw HD 2.0″.  To get the old one, please visit my website.  Link is below.

I’m having problems with the pressure, its almost like it draws as much as you put on the screen, so if you touch it with the tip of your finger really hard it will only be as big as the tip of your finger, but if you use say the palm of your hand, it gets really big

Husker: yeah, that’s “by design”. Capacitive screens are not actually able to detect pressure, unlike resistive. All it has to go on is how large the touch is, so it goes on the assumption that a hard-pressed finger will flatten more to the screen. It’s also worth noting that I’m using XNA’s pressure data pretty much directly.
